 Estate Athletics Grand Prix

“ Let’s face it “ added Chief Executive Kevin McKenzie, “ 99% of us do not have any tickets for the Olympics and the fantastic tv coverage won't compensate for that. We just wanted to get ordinary people to feel what it is like to compete and be recognised for their country of choice. This is the peoples games and we want the Olympic spirit to touch all competitors who take part “ .

Your Olympics

Judging by the 200 plus people who took part in the first two events, this is being achieved.

BMETVFM CHIEF EXECUTIVE AWARDED FREEDOM OF THE CITY OF LONDON

Kevin McKenzie, volunteer Chief Executive of the BMETVFM Charitable Foundation was awarded the distinguished Freedom of the City of London Award in a ceremony in London in September 2011.  One of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today is the granting of the Freedom of the City of London. It is believed that the first Freedom was presented in 1237.Past recipients include Nelson Mandela and Margaret Thatcher.

The medieval term 'freeman' meant someone who was not the property of a feudal lord, but enjoyed privileges such as the right to earn money and own land. Town dwellers who were protected by the charter of their town or city were often free - hence the term 'freedom of the City'.

Kevin McKenzie presented with the "Freedom of the City of London" award.

"This is a humbling award and one that I proud to accept. I will use the recognition to continue to fight for better support, engagement and training for disadvantaged communities", pledged Kevin McKenzie
